File Browser > Search Causing Forbidden Error

When using the Search function of the File Browser (both in the File Module and in the insert/edit image portion of the wysiwyg editor), sometimes fails to return results. When this happens it becomes unresponsive, and a refresh of the page throws a Forbidden error message - Apache/2.4.54 (Ubuntu) Server at [server-name] Port 443
Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a known solution to fix it?

Re: File Browser > Search Causing Forbidden Error

Do you have anything in your Apache logs about the forbidden error? My best guess is that you have something like mod_security running that has flagged the request as being suspicious and is stopping it.

I'll follow up with our server admin and get some additional information for you on that.

Yes, mod_security is running and has been in place for a number of years. They would like to know if you have a specific setting in mind and would like to know its current  value vs desired/optimal?

Re: File Browser > Search Causing Forbidden Error

It's hard to say — mod_security throws a lot of rules at the wall and hopes it catches attacks (while causing a bunch of problems in the process). You'd have to check the security logs and find out what rule the search was triggering and then disable that specific rule.
