Are you referring to installing Extensions? For those you want to click the Developer tab and click "Extensions & Packages" in the first group (on the far right).
In the sub navigation on that section you'll see an option for "Install Extension". Click that and upload the zip file. It will lead you through the rest of the process.

There is no built-in multi-lingual support in BigTree. We'd recommend creating separate page trees for the two different languages.

There's fairly good password management support in BigTree on the security front including temporary IP bans for failed logins, IP whitelists, IP blacklists, password policies, etc. You can view those settings in the "Security" section of the Developer tab.

No, we do not have theme support for BigTree, though it is somewhat planned for the future.
We continue to develop extensions and the community is free to contribute them to the extensions archive as well.

Advanced routing has other htaccess rules that handle compression, mime types, caching, and other server issues. If you get a 500 server error with advanced routing you may want to try "Simple Rewrite Routing".
